What’s in Farmed Salmon
An educational animated infographic created in 2012 for Alexandra Morton, as part of an educational campaign in her battle against the salmon farming industry, whose farms saturate the waters around them with pathogens and sea lice, and which happen to be along key migration routes for salmon fry. Since then, the BC Government began removing farms from the Broughton Archapelago in 2018, and removed them from the Discovery Islands area in 2023, with the Canadian Government announcing a total ban on open net fish farming to go into effect in 2029. First Nations and some environmental groups point to significant increases in pink and chum salmon returns in the areas where farms were removed.
